However, even if you don’t, please make sure that the inspector you choose is a certified member of the California Real Estate Inspection Association. This is the oldest and most respected state home inspection association in America.
Here in California, there are standards for home inspectors that have been enacted by CREIA and recognized in California statutes. Membership in this professional association requires obtaining formal training, passing a rigorous membership examination, and mandatory adherence to continuing education (30 Hrs./year). Beware of contractors and handy men who double in the inspection business as a means to get work. This is unethical and strictly against CREIA standards.

Inspections are performed in adherence to the CREIA standards, which includes a visual examination of the building. Only those items that are visible and accessible by normal means are included in the report.
